Goalkeeper Pressure Cooker

Players ring the center circle and keep the ball moving one-touch — any one of them can shoot at the keeper at any moment, and the keeper has to read, react, and save.

A real workout for your keeper — constant anticipation and quick reactions — while the circle sharpens its passing and shooting accuracy.

Set up · 3 actions · before the kids arrive

  1. Grab: Just balls — the field's center circle does the rest.
  2. Build: No grid to build — use the center circle as it's marked.
  3. Place: Six to ten players spaced around the center circle, the keeper inside it, and a ball with one player on the ring.
Show me the setup pictureThe center circle ringed by shooters, the keeper alone in the middle, and the ball starting with one player on the ring.

One thing to remember: For the keeper — anticipation, quick reactions, and feet that keep moving into position; for the circle — one-touch passing and shooting with accuracy.

How it runs — the whole game in one sentence

The ring keeps the ball moving with one-touch passes and anyone can shoot at the keeper at any time — the keeper saves and plays it straight back out.

  1. 1Organize the players

    Coach does

Space six to ten players around the center circle — the number is yours within that range — put the keeper inside, and hand a ball to one player on the ring.

    Coach says

Big circle around the middle — keeper, you're inside. Everyone out here is a shooter.

  2. 2Show the jobs

    Coach does

The players around the circle keep the ball moving with one-touch passes, and at any time any player can shoot at the keeper. After fielding a shot, the keeper returns the ball to one of the players around the circle and it rolls on.

    Coach says

One touch, keep it moving — and any of you can let one fly, any time. Keeper — expect every single one.

  3. 3Play

    Coach does

Put your attention on the keeper and their work ethic — feet constantly moving them into position for every possible shot, and a quick reaction to every ball they can play.

    Coach says

Feet alive! Set before the shot — react to everything!

Look for: The keeper's feet constantly moving them into position to stop every possible shot — and a quick reaction to every playable ball.

  4. 4Switch and repeat

    Coach does

Run it again as long as the keeper is working well. While warming the keeper up, have the players pass balls in rather than taking shots — then let the shooting return.

    Coach says

Passes only for now — warm those hands up. When I call it, the shots come.

If it's not working

If the keeper is getting buried, have the players pass balls in rather than shoot for a while — then bring the shots back.

Want to go deeper? Optional — not needed to run the game.

Why are we doing this?
A shot can come from anywhere at any time, so the keeper never gets to switch off — continuous anticipation, constantly moving feet, and a quick reaction to every playable ball.
What are they learning?
For the keeper — anticipation, quick reactions, and feet that keep moving into position; for the circle — one-touch passing and shooting with accuracy.
