One-Touch Diamond Passing Combination
Six players run two balls around a diamond in a chain of give-and-gos — pass into the middle, slide around your cone, take the return, and play on.
Quick combination passing is decisions and movement off the ball — every pass here has a weight, a pace, an angle, and a run timed before and after it.
Set up · 3 actions · before the kids arrive
- Grab: Six cones and two balls.
- Build: Build a large diamond — about 12 yards between each side — with two cones near the middle of it.
- Place: A player at each of the six cones; the players at two opposite points of the diamond each start with a ball, and the two middle players face the player with the ball.

One thing to remember: Quick one-touch combination passing and movement off the ball — weight, pace, and angle on the pass, runs timed before and after it, and clean one-twos with the body under control.
How it runs — the whole game in one sentence
Both balls run the same loop around the diamond — give to the middle player, move around your cone, take the return, and play to the player on your right.
1Organize the players▾
Coach does
Put a player at each of the six cones — four on the diamond, two in the middle. Give a ball to the players at two opposite points, and have the middle players face the ball.
Coach says
One of you at every cone. You two at the points — ball each. Middle players, face your ball; you're about to be busy.

Coach does
Walk the pattern — the players at the ends start by playing into the middle player, then move to the other side of their cone to receive the pass back; after the return they play to the player on their right, who gives to the middle, moves around their cone, receives, and plays right — and the pattern continues around the grid. The central players work only with the two points of the diamond and do not switch for now.
Coach says
Give it to the middle, slide around your cone, take it back — then play right. Middle players, give it straight back every time.
3Play▾
Coach does
Keep both balls moving and the pattern fluid — good weight, pace, and angle on every pass, runs timed before and after the pass, good one-twos, and bodies under control. Make sure each player is aware of the second ball at all times.
Coach says
Know where the other ball is! Time your run — smooth and under control!
Look for: The timing — runs before and after each pass timed so the one-twos stay fluid and nobody collides with the second ball.
4Switch and repeat▾
Coach does
Keep the loop rolling. In later rounds, have the central players follow their ball around the grid, or limit everyone to one touch only.
Coach says
Middles — this round you follow your ball. Go where you pass!
If it's not working
If the pattern keeps tangling, freeze it and ask — after your pass into the middle, where do you go? Let them answer, then play on.
Want to go deeper? Optional — not needed to run the game.

Harder: Limit touches to one-touch only.
