Indoor Shooting

Two lines work opposite walls at once — one wall-passing around a row of cones into a shot, the other slaloming through cones into a give-and-go with you and a shot.

One indoor lap touches everything — dribbling, passing, playing off the walls — and both lines finish the way every attack wants to, with a shot on goal.

Set up · 3 actions · before the kids arrive

  1. Grab: Cones — four for the wall-pass row, 6 to 8 for the slalom — and a ball for every player.
  2. Build: Along one side, set four cones about 4 to 5 feet off the wall and about 5 yards apart, stretching about three-quarters of the field. On the opposite side, set 6 to 8 cones in a line to dribble through.
  3. Place: Two even groups on opposite corners of the field, everyone with a ball, and goalkeepers in the goals.

One thing to remember: Dribbling through cones with control, wall passes with good pace, and finishing — a quick touch and a shot on target.

How it runs — the whole game in one sentence

Both lines go at once — one wall-passes around each cone in its row and shoots; the other dribbles through its cones, plays you a give-and-go, and shoots — then both switch lines.

  1. 1Organize the players

    Coach does

Split the team into two even groups on opposite corners of the field, everyone with a ball. Put the goalkeepers in the goals, and take your spot where the slalom ends — the dribblers' pass comes to you.

    Coach says

Two lines, opposite corners, ball each. This side works the wall, that side works the cones — and I'm your wall over here.

  2. 2Show the jobs

    Coach does

Walk both jobs — on the wall-pass side, dribble toward the first cone, knock the ball off the wall around it, collect it on the run, and continue cone by cone until the last one is wall-passed; then take one touch toward the goal and shoot on target. On the slalom side, start at the same time as the wall-passer, dribble in and out of the cones to the end, pass to the coach, take the return, and shoot on goal. Both players switch lines after their shot.

    Coach says

Wall side — bank it around every cone, then one touch and finish. Cone side — weave through, hit me, take it back, and shoot. Then trade lines.

  3. 3Play

    Coach does

Send players down both sides at once and keep the rhythm going. Watch for good control through the slalom, good pace on the ball off the wall, and a quick touch into a shot on target at the end.

    Coach says

Firm off the wall — soft on the catch! Quick touch — on target!

Look for: The finish — a quick touch and a shot on target at the end of every run, no winding up and no waiting.

  4. 4Switch and repeat

    Coach does

Keep everyone alternating lines shot after shot so both jobs get worked. If you only have half of the field, run the wall passes on the sides and the slalom across the middle, finishing with a shot.

    Coach says

Swap sides every time — wall, then weave. Everybody does both.

If it's not working

If the wall passes keep running away, fix the pace into the wall — firm enough to come back, soft enough to collect on the run — and slow the line until it clicks.

Want to go deeper? Optional — not needed to run the game.

Why are we doing this?
The walls turn the whole floor into a passing partner — every rep strings dribbling, wall passes, and a finish together — and running both lines at once means nobody stands around waiting to shoot.
What are they learning?
Dribbling through cones with control, wall passes with good pace, and finishing — a quick touch and a shot on target.
